The movie’s supervising animator, Bobby Podesta, believed that the biggest challenge they faced was in a particular scene where Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys were welcomed by literally hundreds of toys at Sunnyside Daycare. They were required to cope with the advances made in technology while also maintaining the classic Toy Story feel at the same time. Unkrich further explained that the animation process was a challenge. Director Lee Unkrich, who had been there since the beginning of the franchise, claimed that the idea of Toy Story 3 had been in his mind for quite some time but as soon as he began working on it, that idea was rejected within the first 20 minutes of brainstorming.Įventually, a new idea was developed which had to be implemented through animation. After the success of the first two editions in the franchise, Pixar finally announced in 2009 that a new sequel is coming soon.
